e text editor v1.0 Released (beta period is over)
August 7th, 2007

After a long beta period, e is finally coming out of beta. It has been quite a ride. We have had a pretty crazy release cycle with updates coming out weekly (and often twice a week). So I really appreciate all the users who have followed the releases and pushed both me and e to improve with their enthusiasm. Special appreciation goes to all those users who chose to register even though it was still in beta.
Coming out of beta does not mean that development will slow down. The 1.0 release is a stable base to build on and I have a lot of new (and unique) features in the pipeline. I will probably start having a bit longer between releases to focus on some larger features.
And before I get drowned in requests again. Yes, a linux version is in the works ![]()

I registered as soon as I first found out about it. Thanks for all the hard work, I use e daily, and I don’t know how I could program without it! While some bugs still appear here and there, it’s an amazing effort as a Rails on Windows editor solution.

Congrats Alexander,
You have done great job with e, the best editor yet.

I am extremely happy. Mostly for the Linux.
Anyhow, I guess I’d better see about paying for a copy of e now. It will be one of the happiest purchases I ever make.

Thanks Alexander; E really is a terrific editor.
use it daily now and 1.0 has practically everything I need.
Out of interest, will registration for the linux version be a seperate cost or will it be included with a windows license? Either way, I can happily say that when the linux version is ready, It will be one of the last programs I was waiting for to be ported.
Thanks

We have never regretted this purchase.
Thank you!

Great work!! We have a couple of mac guys here in the office and I’ve dehydrated myself on many occasions drooling over TextMate. I’m a Linux user like everyone else on here and breathlessly anticipate its arrival.
Again, great work.

Brilliant work! I believe E text editor is able to replace the current text editors which I have been using, and especially the obsolete notepad provided by Microsoft.

The license is valid for all platforms. So when the Linux version comes out, you can use the same license there.

Great stuff, thank you. I’ve been using it since beta and it has always been stable.
Best Text editor on the PC.

Well done! I just made the switch, E is now my default editor of choice. There are still a few minor bugs and missing features, but it’s still the best multi-language editor out there.
